About Ashley

Ashley Lapin Olian is a professional journalist, content creator, and marketing and communications specialist.
Ashley received her MSc in Journalism from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. While at Medill, she specialized in video/broadcast and national security business reporting. In addition, Ashley completed the media management sequence in conjunction with the Kellogg School of Business. For her final master's project, Ashley filmed, edited and produced a short documentary entitled "I Love Mondays."
Ashley received her BA in French and Spanish from Barnard College. Ashley speaks French and Spanish fluently.
During the summer of 2013, Ashley headed to the UK to intern as a video journalist for the international French news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP). At AFP in London, Ashley had the opportunity to truly hone and advance her video and reporting skills: She filmed, conducted interviews, edited, voiced and collaborated on more than 30 news stories. Ashley was also able to use her French-language skills through translating and adapting packaged video scripts from French to English.
Prior to obtaining her master's degree, Ashley worked for seven years at The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International. She helped develop a new grants program, in particular focusing on the scholarships portion. She was the team leader for the staff focus group on peace and conflict resolution in addition to communicating the program's new objectives to the worldwide Rotary audience and leaders in English, Spanish and French.
